Ajay Devgn was impressed when he watched Makkhi, the Hindi version of Eega. He was approached by SS Rajamouli to convince him to dub for the father's character, who begins the narration during the title credits. Scheduled to release on Oct 12, the film sees Sudeep as Sudeep, Nani as Jani and Samantha as Bindhu. As we know, Suresh Babu had grand plans to release Makkhi in 3D format. He later gave up the plan probably because he was convinced that the cost was not worth it. Admittedly, he said that they decided to drop the plan in view of the high costs it entailed. Rajamouli's first idea was to wait till December, but since it is only in 2D format, they advanced it.
