After glamorous films like Heroine and Calendar Girls, Madhur Bhandarkar is working on a film with a political backdrop. Titled Indu Sarkar, the film is based on Indira Gandhi-imposed Emergency. It was earlier announced that Neil Nitin Mukesh is a part of the film.

And now news has arrived that it has the actor essaying the role of Indira Gandhi’s (played by Supriya Vinod) younger son, Sanjay Gandhi. To get his look right, the team hired prosthetic and make-up professionals from abroad. It took six months to nail Neil’s character.

On the same a source has been quoted by a publication saying, “Great efforts were taken to ensure that he looks like a carbon copy of Sanjay Gandhi. Neil has also been reading up a lot on the Gandhis and the Emergency period to prep for his role.”

The film which is shot in Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune, also features Pink actress Kirti Kulhari in the lead; she plays a stammering poetess, who rebels against the system. The film is slated to release in mid-2017 and has its music composed by Bappi Lahiri and Anu Malik.
